Windermere is one of the largest and oldest independent community service organisations in Melbourne’s South-East. Today we service from Southern Metropolitan Melbourne to Gippsland, serving a population of over 1.5 million people. Windermere’s innovative support services and programs provide opportunities for disadvantaged and vulnerable people in our community to build resilience and feel connected with their community. We support individuals who have experienced or are dealing with issues such as physical, emotional and sexual abuse, neglect, violence in the family, lack of housing, have been the victim of a violent crime, are living with a disability, who care for a child with a developmental delay or who just need help to fit in or feel part of their community. We provide emotional and practical support, counselling, advice, education, advocacy, therapeutic interventions and reasons to come together. We provide quality child care through family day care, early childhood learning centres and, for those for meet the high needs criteria, in home care. We also work with a number of schools to help children remain healthy and engaged. Our services operate from 10 locations including major centres at Narre Warren, Cranbourne and Pakenham. Windermere is:
  • a secular, non-Government, not-for-profit community support organisation with more than 140 full-time and part-time staff and over 100 contractors
  • wholly independent and autonomous
  • incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act
  • a service provider to over 14,000 people annually
  • guided in its direction by a voluntary Board of Governance in partnership with the Windermere management team and staff.
The majority of our services are provided free of charge and people’s circumstances are always taken into account before any fees are applied.
