Cooking 4 Kids
Cooking 4 Kids is a cooking & development studio for kids between 3 -17 years of age.
Cooking 4 Kids has been developed to inspire children to discover, create & master their cooking skills.
We aim to educate kids on understanding where food comes from, what it has to offer them nutritionally & ways of preparing healthy foods… all in a fun filled & safe environment.
The Cooking 4 Kids studio helps develop children’s reading & math’s skills, widens their food & cultural knowledge, as well as teaching them basic food chemistry & nutrition. It helps to build their confidence and gives them a sense of ownership & achievement upon completing a class.
Owned & operated by Meg White, a qualified chef with 13 years cooking experience & 17 years within the hospitality industry. Meg has worked in cafe’s, restaurants, event, wedding & corporate catering over the years. She has been inspired by Stephanie Alexander’s Kitchen Garden Program, volunteered in schools to teach cooking & been hired to cater for & run children’s cooking parties. It’s through these experiences that Meg realised her passion for working with children & the positive contributions cooking can bring to their lives.
Meg holds a Working with Children blue card & keeps all First Aid Certificates up to date to ensure the children’s safety at all times.
After School Classes
All of our classes follow the same structure.
Children are encouraged to take it in turns to read aloud elements of the lessons recipe. The children collect utensils, weigh & measure their own ingredients, along with learning & implementing new skills & techniques. Whilst their creations cook or set, together as a class they wash, dry, tidy & clean the studio in preparation for a class discussion. Class discussions are centered around the utensils, ingredients and skills the children have learnt in the duration of the class. Each child receives a copy of the lessons recipe, which they can draw or write this information onto and keep as a reference.
A different recipe is made each week, alternating between sweet & savory items. Each child receives a recipe sheet to enable the children to grasp the ingredients, utensils & skills taught each class.
Casual students may take their recipes home with them. Term students return their recipes, so they can be presented to them in a booklet at the conclusion of the term.
Kinder aged children must have a parent remain with them for the duration of the class.
Classes run for 1.5 hours
$28 AUD per class.
